Suitcase stories
What's in the suitcase?
Inside this suitcase are a thousand and more stories waiting to be discovered. With the help of a few random objects I will unlock those stories from the imaginations of the children in your classroom in a workshop that can last an hour, a morning , a day or whole week. The workshop explores simple structures of stories and ways of building exciting, interesting and often funny stories from scratch, and because the children invest their ideas into the stories, contributing as the story develops, so they have ownership and are more willing to do follow up work on the story, often through written word, drama or visual art. This workshop can be used as a simple stimulus for work that you would like to continue after I have left the classroom or I can hang about and develop the story through the mediums described above. |

Story-making workshops lead into a wide range of follow on work. Whether this be creative writing, drama/theatre or visual art is dependent on the outcome required of the project. My workshops are child led, in as much as I follow their ideas and help shape a story into something which makes sense and is tangible.
To get the story started, I call on a variety of stimuli, such as a random selection of objects, percussive instruments or other sound making devices, poem, song, historic theme or theme from a story book that the group are already working on.

Drama workshops
I run many different kinds of drama workshops, exploring issues raised in stories or projects. I teach the use of masks and puppets as well as many other theatre related workshops.
